For over 60 years, the Little Ghost Laban has been a beloved children’s book character and a comforting friend to both young and old. Created by Inger and Lasse Sandberg, Laban has charmed generations since he first appeared in the world of books in 1965 – and today, he remains one of Sweden’s most iconic characters in children’s literature.
Laban isn’t like other ghosts. Even though his dad is a big, scary (but friendly) castle ghost, Laban is afraid of the dark and far more interested in helping out with everyday tasks than in learning how to frighten people. Laban shows us that courage isn’t about being the biggest or the loudest – it’s about daring to be kind, thoughtful, and true to yourself.
At Villervalla, we’re celebrating Laban with a new collection – inspired by his colourful world and his important message of safety, empathy, and the bravery to be just who you are.
