Many people become unsure of how to dress their baby when spring has entered. Therefore, we have put together a guide with 4 tips of clothes that are suitable to spring and its erratic weather.
For the tiny ones, who mostly spend their time outdoors in their pram, it's generally enough to dress the baby in the clothes it wears indoors together with a thin overall, a thin blanket, knitted mittens, a spring hat in cotton and comfortable, thick socks.
Always have a blanket ready if it gets colder, or if you carry the baby in your arms.
For those babies who have discovered the thing about hanging out in a baby carrier, it requires some extra thoughts about clothes. A soft body and trousers or bodysuit and a overall can do the trick, or if you carry the baby close to you and put your own jacket around it. Do not forget the hat, thick socks and gloves.
The layer-on-layer principle is always smart to use, and this also applies to sedentary babies. Young children usually sweat very little and layer 1 can therefore definitely be made of cotton, such as a long-sleeved body and tricot pants or twillpants. Then use a warming intermediate layer. If the child is sitting in a pram, a windproof jacket can be warm enough if he is sitting in a footmuff, so that his legs and feet are kept warm.
If the baby switches between pram and sandbox / sit in the lap, for example, a pair of shell pants is nice to wear over the pants. The advantage of shell overall is that the clothes do not slip or become chubby, but it is a little trickier to quickly regulate the temperature if you go inside stores etc.
On the small feet, booties or thick socks do the job. And remember a thin hat and gloves.
Babies can't regulate body temperature themselves. Feel the baby's neck, so you can quickly determine if the baby is too hot or too cold. If it is hot and humid, well it's time to remove a layer. If the baby shows dissatisfaction, it can also be an indication that it is not completely satisfied with its clothing.
Remember: A pram should always be sheltered and never stand in direct sunlight. Even if you have a canopy, it can get too hot. Do not cover the opening with a blanket / scarf or similar, as it quickly gets too hot inside the pram.
In other words:
• Use the layer-on-layer principle and adapt the upholstery to the temperature
• Feel the baby's neck for an indication of whether it is warm enough
• Always have an extra blanket on hand in the pram if the temperature drops
