How do I dress my baby for summer?

Summer! Finally, it´s time for sunny weather and long days spending outdoors. But for a baby, the heat can quickly become too much, the skin is sensitive, and the baby can’t regulate its body temperature. So, how do you dress your baby so that it doesn’t get too hot? Here are our best tips for a happy summer baby!

Keep the baby in the shade

Perhaps the most important thing of all: A baby should not be in the sun at all. Always make sure to keep it in the shade. When sleeping in the stroller, do not cover the opening with a blanket or scarf; it's getting way too hot. Use an insect net designed for the stroller and place the stroller in the shade instead.

Clothes for babies on a hot summer day

The layer-on-layer principle is always good to apply, all year round. Put on your baby what you think is right, what do you wear today for example? Thin, spacious clothes are comfy to wear.

Feel the baby's neck; if it is damp, the baby is too warm and you can remove a layer of clothing.

Summer clothing – Checklist:

•    Thin, long-sleeved cotton body and cotton trousers or bodysuit is a nice outfit in the shade (remember to bring an extra change)

•    Thin hat or sun hat

•    Comfy cotton socks

•    Cardigan or a tricot jacket to put on when needed

•    Blankets of different thicknesses can support with extra heat if the temperature drops. Or lay it on the grass/sand for a comfy foundation!

UV clothing when bathing with your baby

When the baby wants to splash in the water, you should dress it in full-coverage UV clothing, which provides good protection against the sun's harmful rays. Check out Villervalla's colorful, comfortable and protective UV clothing for babies with SPF +50.
